Mike Judges Beavis and Butt head Return to MTV after 14 years

Beavis and Butt-Head have returned to television after a 14 year absence with 3.3 million watching with the first of twelve new episodes for MTV. In 1993, Mike Judge, creator of “Beavis and Butt-Head,” and MTV knocked their heads together and launched a cartoon series starring a couple of lunkheads, and unwittingly started an animated pop culture revolution. Almost as soon as the world’s most famous slacker teenagers wearing heavy-metal T-shirts reared their heads, they became self-appointed arbiters of “cool.” But, for the most part, Beavis and Butt-Head spent their time just sitting on a couch making fun of what they watched on television. When Mike Judge decided to revive Beavis and Butt-head, he knew he had to adapt to MTV's current climate. When the show originally aired, the majority of the network's programming consisted of music videos. And Beavis and Butt-head would spend most of the episode critiquing and making fun of them. Today, that angle no longer applies. Over 60 percent of MTV's schedule features reality television, which will become the characters' new focus.

Judge told MTV, "With the reality shows, it just feels like pay dirt to me. Those shows have just been really fun to have Beavis and Butt-head watch." The main reason the characters are so popular is because they say what the audience is thinking. They're relatable to the Average Joe. With the glutton of junk TV on the air, Beavis and Butt-head will have more than their fair share of mocking material.

Beavis and Butt-head airs Thursdays on MTV.

Fox Rebooting 90's Comedy "In Living Color"

Fox has decided to bring back its groundbreaking 90s sketch comedy series "In Living Color" with creator and star Keenen Ivory Wayans as host and executive producer. Fox has ordered two In Living Color half-hour specials to air as part of the network’s 25th anniversary celebration in mid-season with a series option behind them, If the reboot is successful it will join Fox’s schedule as a regular series next season.

The new In Living Color will be produced by Wayans' production company Ivory Way Prods. in association with 20th Century Fox TV’s Fox 21.

The original In Living Color, which was produced by Ivory Way Prods and 20th TV, also launched in mid-season, premiering on April 15, 1990. It broke stereotypes by employing a cast of mostly black comedians and introducing hip-hop and dancing to mainstream television. The show helped launch the careers of a slew of comedy actors including Wayans, his siblings Damon, Shawn, Kim and later Marlon, as well as Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx and David Alan Grier and of course Jennifer Lopez who was one of the Fly Girls. It spawned such iconic characters as “Men on Film,” starring flamboyant film critics Blaine Edwards (Damon Wayans) and Antoine Merriweather (Grier), Homey D. Clown (Damon Wayans), a dour urban kiddie entertainer whose catchphrase was "Homey don’t play that!" streetwise scam artists "The Home Boys" (Keenen Ivory and Damon Wayans), and Fire Marshall Bill (Jim Carrey), a disfigured safety expert.

In Living Color gave its actors freedom to improvise and it skewered everyone, particularly black America. In probably the most successful programming stunt opposite the Super Bowl ever, a special live edition of In Living Color drew some 25 million viewers during the halftime of the 1992 Super Bowl on CBS. But the show’s fearlessness when it comes to the targets of its jokes and the unapologetic political incorrectness of its skits often ran afoul with Fox’s censors. The frequent clashes contributed to Wayans departing from the show after the third season even though he remained an executive producer.

In Living Color ended its run in May 1994 after five season.

Virgin Galactic's Ticket to Space

This morning, Governor of New Mexico Susana Martinez, Virgin Galactic CEO George Whitesides, and Richard Branson welcomed guests inside Spaceport America, to commemorate and christen the Spaceport's main Terminal Hangar Facility as the 'Virgin Galactic Gateway to Space'.

In front of a crowd of 800 journalists, future astronauts, and team members responsible for the design & construction of the VSS Enterprise, the spacecraft made a 'captive carry' fly-by with mothership White Knight II, before landing on the 10,000 ft. long runway and docking outside Spaceport America's 47,000 sq. ft hangar.

As flight tests ramp up toward a speculative launch date in 2012 or early 2013, the Spaceport will now serve as the home base of operations for those working to make Virgin Galactic a reality; a date that for some, can't come soon enough.

At events like the one today, it's a chance to network and be a part of an elite group that is helping Branson write the next chapter of aviation history. In some ways, it's the ultimate traveler's club - a chance of a lifetime for those that can afford to join. Future passengers from all across the globe come to events put on by Virgin Galactic to mingle with former NASA astronauts, politicians, and the Branson family.

Branson's hope is that it won't be long before tens of thousands of ordinary humans brave enough to make the trip will be able to afford the flights; and he will have helped forge an entirely new tourism industry.

When operations commence, which could be as soon as 2012 or 2013, passengers will go through a three day training experience at Spaceport America. They'll undergo g-force testing, weightlessness simulations, and health checks to ensure that they're fit enough to make the trip to 361,000 ft. Once aboard the 6-seater craft, they will experience up to 4g's as they rocket toward an apogee inside the thermosphere, before experiencing up to 5 minutes of weightlessness.

There is still much to be done before the passenger experience in New Mexico is fully worked out, but Branson promises that it won't disappoint. While Galactic has yet to prove itself as a full-fledged business, their customers are excited and there is a sense of enthusiasm from the company as they continue to expand an already impressive list of staff members.

The date on which we'll witness a powered flight is still uncertain, but it seems as if Branson is determined to keep passing milestones on the way to the history books at a very steady rate; and now with a new home for Galactic, the only way forward is up.
